Illusive Cycle

Around 1970, in the effort to paint "cyclical space" images, I attempted to apply an illusionary method. In the process of conceiving this type of painting I discovered numerous new variations and created many paintings of this type, most of which were ' planar illusions. Having gleaned considerable knowledge from books, I believed that If universes cycle together then solid and empty spaces must surround each other, as opposed to boundless emptiness outside tangible entities.' However, as this concept could not be rendered via conventional perspective I used illusion to try to link empty and solid space together in a single order, thereby obliterating the concept of boundless emptiness. Nevertheless, I still found it difficult to render such cyclical illusions in images. .. I then tried adopting the concepts of the Mobius band and Klein Bottle, proposed in 1885-87 and 1922, respectively, but using two-dimensional modes of expression that nonetheless resulted in cyclical effects. In contrast, it is difficult to paint cyclical images using three-dimensional illusions. My work largely belonged to either "cyclical planes" or "absolute erroneous objects."
